Customers can earn money for Mid-Atlantic schools through simple school fundraiser
LANDOVER, Md., Sept. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- With another school year now underway, don't forget to add signing up for Giant Food of Landover, Md.'s A+ School Rewards program to your grocery list! Customers are encouraged to once again sign up for the simple school fundraiser and designate up to two local schools in their community to earn A+ School Rewards. Since the program launched in 1989, more than $86 million, allocated in funds and educational equipment, has been donated to local schools in Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Delaware to fulfill academic and enrichment needs.
"Giant is very proud to support local schools across the region and enhance education initiatives in the neighborhoods we're so privileged to serve," said Anthony Hucker, president, Giant Food of Landover, Md. "Together with our customers, we're able to make a positive difference in the lives of children across Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Delaware."
Beginning October 5 and continuing through March 28, 2013, Giant Food customers can help local schools earn cash for technology, scholarship funds, summer programs, field trips, playgrounds, other educational needs, and more. A+ School Rewards are accrued with each purchase a customer makes using his or her Giant card. Last year's top earning school, Mater Dei School in Bethesda, Md., received nearly $20,000 and purchased new computers and installed Smart Boards in all classrooms.
To participate in the program, customers must sign up and choose their recipient school by visiting their neighborhood Giant or online at www.giantfood.com/aplus. Participants are encouraged to sign up or re-designate as soon as possible so their chosen schools can begin earning points when the program begins in October. Beginning in November, current school totals can be found on the A+ website at www.giantfood.com/aplus.
