PHOENIX, Nov. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Arizonans have much to be thankful for this year. That's because AAA Arizona and the Beverage Alcohol Community Information Council (BACIC) are offering Tipsy Tow service on Thanksgiving Eve, a highly celebrated night.
AAA Arizona and BACIC encourage the public to seek responsible routes home from bars, restaurants and parties. To give drivers a safe and reliable option, the organizations are offering Tipsy Tow service beginning 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, through 6 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 24.
"The Wednesday before Thanksgiving has become a popular night for Arizona's bars and restaurants," said Steve Chucri, chairman of BACIC. "Providing our patrons with an easy way—like Tipsy Tow—to make a responsible decision is always incredibly important, especially during the holidays."
To take advantage of Tipsy Tow, drivers, passengers, bartenders and/or restaurant managers should:
- Call 1-800-AAA-HELP (1-800-222-4357) during the service period
- State that they need a "Tipsy Tow."
- Provide the driver's name, home address, phone number and location.
"We urge Arizonans to celebrate responsibly this holiday season and encourage them to take advantage of this free service, if necessary," said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona.
Tipsy Tow provides a free one-way ride for the driver, one passenger and their vehicle, up to 10 miles. Motorists will not be towed to another drinking establishment or destination other than their home. A tow to a hotel may be allowed if the motorist is, or plans to become, a guest. Tipsy Tow does not include AAA Roadside Assistance. For trips longer than 10 miles, motorists will be charged the towing company's standard rate.
BACIC is a council comprised of organizations and trade groups from the hospitality industry, including restaurants, bars, lodging and tourism sectors. The Council seeks to promote community awareness and information about issues in our Arizona related to the beverage alcohol industry, to ensure responsible and lawful consumption of alcoholic beverages, and to recognize the role that hospitality establishments play in our tourism industry and economy. BACIC supports well-designed and effective public policies that advance this mission without unreasonably restricting the options of those consumers who choose to enjoy alcohol beverages responsibly and in moderation or adversely affecting the economic vitality of our Arizona.
