AANMA's On the Move With New Leadership, New Headquarters In 2014

MCLEAN, Va., Dec. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Allergy & Asthma Network Mothers of Asthmatics (AANMA), a leading nonprofit patient education and advocacy organization, is kicking off the new year with two exciting changes: the appointment of Tonya Winders as Chief Executive Officer and the relocation of AANMA headquarters to a larger office space in Northern Virginia.

Located in a vibrant part of the business and retail district of Tysons Corner, Va. (8229 Boone Blvd., Suite 260, Vienna, VA 22182), the new office location will help accommodate current and future growth of the organization.

Winders joined AANMA as Chief Operating Officer in January 2013 and will begin her new position on Jan. 1, 2014. She succeeds AANMA founder Nancy Sander, who led the organization for 28 years before retiring last September.

Since joining AANMA, Winders has strengthened partnerships with leaders of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology to address challenges currently facing the specialty throughout the United States. She has also established partnerships with the American Association for Respiratory Care, Association of Asthma Educators and American Academy of Physician Assistants in Allergy, Asthma & Immunology to spread awareness and preparedness messages to patients and caregivers.

Prior to joining AANMA, Winders spent more than 15 years in leadership roles in the allergy and asthma industry. From pharmaceutical, diagnostics and device sales to marketing leadership, she has worked tirelessly to ensure patients have access to effective diagnostic and treatment tools. She has also volunteered and worked in leadership roles in charitable settings.

Winders holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Human Resources Management and a Master's in Business Administration and Marketing from Louisiana State University.

The mother of five children ages 8-15, four of whom have asthma and/or allergies, Winders enjoys spending time with her husband of 18 years, Brian Winders, and coaching cheerleading.
