ABC Medical Center delivers the award Excellence in Medicine 2015 to Dr. Juan Ramón de la Fuente
MEXICO CITY, Nov. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- ABC Medical Center granted the award Excellence in Medicine 2015 at Alcázar del Castillo de Chapultepec to Dr. Juan Ramón de la Fuente Ramirez for his contribution to medicine in Mexico and worldwide, on November 11, 2016.
This award is given out annually, in recognition of Mexican doctors who have made a mark on the practice of medicine, recognizing them for their contributions to the academic field, research and philanthropy, in Mexico and abroad. The award was created in 1986, and has been given to more than 30 distinguished doctors.
Dr. Juan Ramón de la Fuente has a degree from the School of Medicine at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), he did is residency in Psychiatry at the Mayo Clinic, and is a Doctor Honoris Causa for 18 universities in Mexico, the United States, Canada, Europe and South America. He has been in public positions such as Secretary of Health, President of the Mexican Academy of Science, and the National Academy of Medicine, as well as dean of UNAM.
Due to his scientific contributions, de la Fuente has received several national and international awards and recognitions. He currently presides over the Board of the Aspen Institute in Mexico, and he manages the Seminar of Studies on Global Presence at UNAM.

Present during the ceremony were Dr. José Narro, Secretary of Health of the Federal Government in Mexico; Dr. Pablo Kuri, Assistant Secretary of Prevention and Promotion of Health; Dr. José Meljem, Assistant Secretary of Integration and Development of the Health Sector; and Dr. Enrique Graue, Dean of UNAM; as well as politicians, doctors and scientists, businesspeople and media.
