Absorption Systems Chief Scientist Ismael Hidalgo to Present at International Workshop on Drug Transporters
Joint workshop of AAPS and the International Transporter Consortium covers the current state of drug transporter knowledge and looks into the future
EXTON, Pa., April 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The preclinical contract research organization Absorption Systems, a global leader in pharmacokinetic testing of drugs and safety testing of medical devices, announces that its Chief Scientist, Ismael Hidalgo, will present at this week's workshop "Drug Transporters in ADME: From the Bench to the Bedside" in Baltimore, MD. The title of Dr. Hidalgo's talk is "Modern Tools for the Study of Membrane Transporters," part of a session entitled "Transporter Tools of the Future."
The workshop, organized jointly by AAPS (the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists) and ITC (the International Transporter Consortium), features the world's leading researchers on drug transporters, from academia, the drug industry, and drug regulatory agencies. The program, which includes speakers from North America, Europe, and Asia, covers three full days (April 20-22).
Dr. Hidalgo commented that "This workshop is a great opportunity, both to let people know what we've done and to discuss the latest research in this fast-moving field with other experts. We have all learned a lot in the past decade, but there's a lot more to learn. And it's important, because what we know about drug transporters contributes directly to the development of safer and more effective drugs."
