
ABVCAP: Rahul Sood, Alberto Ramos and David Rubenstein to Keynote Brazil´s PEVC Events in San Francisco and New York
RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Despite Brazil's economy slowdown, its private equity and venture capital industry showed continuous growth over the past years. A recent research conducted by the Brazilian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (ABVCAP), in partnership with KPMG, highlighted an increase of R$19.6 billion, or 31%, of committed capital in Brazil´s PE and a 79% increase of VC investments between 2011 and 2012.
Eyeing this attractive scenario, ABVCAP, through its partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), will host roadshows in San Francisco and New York in September.
Recently, Brazil´s VC industry has seen the increase of more local and global newcomers setting up shops in the country. ABVCAP´s Advisory Board Member and Principal Investment Officer of MIF/IDB, Susana Garcia-Robles explains that the combined efforts of the Government, associations such as ABVCAP and the emergence of new research centers are turning Brazil in a clearly enabled environment for entrepreneurs and investors.
With more than 14 years fomenting venture capital ecosystems in Brazil and in the region, Susana and other experts such as Rahul Sood, General Manager and Partner of Microsoft Ventures will talk about Brazil´s VC in San Francisco on Sept. 12.
In New York on Sept. 23, Alberto Ramos, Co-head of the Latin America Economic Research team of Goldman Sachs will help the audience take the temperature of Brazil´s economy and understand how this scenario will look in the long term. In its second edition, the event aims at updating international Limited Partners on Brazil´s private equity industry. Gavea Investimentos, Tarpon Investimentos, Axxon Group and others will speak about their previous successful experiences and future plans.
Also in New York, on Sept. 25, David Rubenstein, Co-Founder and Managing Director of The Carlyle Group will keynote the Brazil Breakfast, an event hosted by ABVCAP in association and during LAVCA´s Annual Summit & Investor Roundtable. The breakfast also includes fund managers Stratus Group, Graycliff Partners and 3i Brasil.
