Action for Healthy Kids® and GoGo squeeZ® Provide Game On Grants to 50 Schools for 2017-2018 School Year
CHICAGO, Aug. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Action for Healthy Kids® (AFHK) announces the 50 recipients of Game On grants for the 2017-2018 school year with funding provided by GoGo squeeZ®. Awarded in 13 states, the grants aim to expand students' access to physical activity and healthy foods in schools, improve knowledge and behaviors around healthy snacking, and engage parents in activities that reinforce healthy habits at home.
As part of a broader partnership with AFHK, the 50 GoGo squeeZ-funded Game On grants help returning grantees sustain their programs and new grantees use the funds for a variety of wellness purposes that introduce students to the benefits of an active, healthy lifestyle, including:
- Nutrition education: Supplemental nutrition education, school gardens, taste tests, healthy snacking, and healthy classroom parties and celebrations.
- Physical activity: Funding for physical education, active indoor and outdoor recess, classroom energizers, walking and running clubs, and before- and after-school programs.
