ActiveBatch® Enhances Runbook and IT Operations Capabilities to Flagship Enterprise Workload Automation Solution
Support for Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange Automates IT Tasks, Provides Integration Capabilities; Extension for Microsoft SharePoint Automates Website Maintenance
MORRISTOWN, N.J., March 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. (ASCI), today announced it is bringing a broad new class of service to enterprise IT automation through several important additions to its ActiveBatch® Workload Automation and Job Scheduling Software. Via new core capabilities supporting Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange Server as well as an ActiveBatch Extension for Microsoft SharePoint, it's now possible to quickly and easily automate new forms of runbook and IT operations—and integrate these procedures into other business and IT operational processes—all through a single point of automation.
"With these new capabilities, we're expanding the traditional definition of runbook automation and IT operations to include a new set of infrastructure processes and maintenance tasks that are driven by business," said Jim Manias, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Advanced Systems Concepts. "We're eliminating another boundary to IT automation. Whether its human resources personnel initiating contact information for new employees and ActiveBatch automating the process of creating new mailboxes and groups within Exchange, or an IT worker initializing an optical disk, ActiveBatch can save time, reduce human error and make daily workflows a lot easier."
ActiveBatch now enables IT operations to automate a new set of IT processes and administrative routines that are critical to the success of the business, and in the process, save time and reduce the number of errors from manual intervention.
Active Directory Support. ActiveBatch's new Microsoft Active Directory core capability allows IT to automate and manage many of the runbook tasks associated with IT and business processes including adding users and groups, deleting objects or users, and modifying attributes associated with various objects and users. Within ActiveBatch's central console, administrators can initiate job steps that automate the creation, modification and management of virtually any Active Directory operation, using constraints, event triggers, monitoring, alerts and audits to automate and execute functions.
Exchange Server Support. Through a new integrated core capability for Microsoft Exchange Server, IT Operations can automate and manage Exchange tasks such as creating mailboxes and groups, associating members to specific groups, and deleting or disabling groups and mailboxes. Specific Exchange jobs can be executed within workflows that include other applications, databases and processes; e.g., filling in a human resources Web form can trigger an ActiveBatch workflow to change a specific database or document. The result is saved time, improved service levels, and streamlined IT operations.
SharePoint Extension. ActiveBatch Extension for SharePoint, a product add-on, allows users of Microsoft SharePoint to automate tasks such as backups, copying, creating, deleting or restoring SharePoint objects associated with Web sites, Web portals, extranets and various documents and files. Downloading information from an application into a SharePoint folder, for example, can be automated with drag-and-drop simplicity. As with ActiveBatch's other new capabilities, users can set constraints, event triggers, alerts and other automated steps that improve service levels, save time and reduce human error.
Availability
ActiveBatch's new capabilities supporting Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange Server and SharePoint are available as part of Service Pack 3 for ActiveBatch Version 8. ActiveBatch Extensions are separately licensed; for more information, log on to www.advsyscon.com.
