Adept Materials preparing to bring advanced moisture control paint to market

Company recently closed a $4.6M seed round in advance of its first product launch

SOMERVILLE, Mass., March 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Adept Materials, an advanced materials startup, is preparing to launch its first consumer product, a premium interior paint and primer system that incorporates the company's proprietary moisture control technology. Unlike other interior coatings that are purely decorative, Adept's paint and primer work to passively regulate moisture and humidity inside the home.

Adept Materials has been subjecting its paint and primer system to rigorous performance testing in the team's R&D facilities at Greentown Labs and by third parties. The team is currently preparing pilot projects to showcase the benefits of its moisture control technology in homes.

Concurrently, Adept Materials has been partnering with Red Antler, a leading branding agency, to develop the moisture control paint's consumer brand — called Lilypad.

Adept Materials recently previewed the Lilypad brand at the NAHB International Builders' Show in Las Vegas, where it was featured in the Start-Up Zone. Adept is planning upcoming appearances at ChangeNOW (Paris), Climate Tech on the Plaza (Boston), BuiltWorlds' Innovating Building Materials & Supply Chain Conference (Chicago), and the Innovative Housing Showcase (Washington, D.C.).

Adept Materials recently closed an oversubscribed $4.6M seed round. The round was led by D.R. Horton and PulteGroup, two of North America's largest homebuilders, and joined by Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC), a state-run economic development agency, Point Cove LLC, an investment firm, as well as Anorak Ventures and other early-stage technology investors.
