Advanced Disposal Partners with Vocational Energy to Build Their First CNG Fueling Station

BALL GROUND, Ga., June 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Disposal Services, Inc., broke ground earlier today on their first compressed natural gas [CNG] fueling station, located in Ball Ground, Georgia. The station, being built by Vocational Energy, will help Advanced Disposal service Gwinnett County and the city of Roswell, both near Atlanta.

Advanced Disposal, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, is the fourth largest privately owned environmental services company in the country, and services close to 800,000 customers with a fleet of 900 trucks. Their shift to natural gas is one that supports their mission of environmental responsibility.

It just made sense from all angles," said Katrine Strickland, Advanced Disposal's Marketing Manager. Edelbach said that this station will be one of several for Advanced Disposal throughout the Southeast and that each station will assist in supporting Advanced Disposal's goal of leaving the world a little cleaner than they found it.

Strickland said the station will have the capacity to fuel up to 95 natural-gas powered vehicles in 10 hours, of which 27 are currently on order. The initial $22 million dollar price tag for the station and vehicles is something that Advanced Disposal put a lot of thought into, said Strickland.

"I know a good deal of research went into this decision. The CNG engines burn cleaner – and are solely from domestic sources reducing our dependency on foreign oil," said Strickland, adding that other cities within their coverage areas have expressed interest in migrating to natural gas as well. Strickland said Advance Disposal's choice of fuel station builder was also carefully thought out, which led them to Vocational Energy.

"Vocational Energy has extensive experience building fueling stations for solid waste fleets, and their proposal presented the best overall value," said Strickland, adding that she anticipated the station would be complete early August.
