AT&T Wireless Network Allows for Greater Flexibility and Productivity for 5,000 Mobile Associates

IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T* today announced that Advantage Sales and Marketing (ASM) has signed a new 2-year contract for wireless services to accelerate its ability to help consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturers optimize the presence and merchandising of their products in the retail environment.  

Under the new agreement with AT&T, ASM has equipped 5,000 of its field representatives, serving a client base of more than 900 CPG manufacturers across the U.S. and Canada, with hand-held PC devices – the Motorola MC55 and the Intermec CN50 wireless devices – loaded with custom-designed software and connected through the AT&T wireless network.  

ASM's handheld PC devices are connected through a fully-encrypted, highly reliable AT&T mobile network. Business-critical, sensitive information is sent from the field to ASM headquarters and shared with CPG clients in virtually real time.

This new solution allows ASM to provide its customers with highly robust technology, which will provide fast, reliable communication of business-critical data between field workers and headquarters. The enterprise-grade devices facilitate in-store sales calls by providing field representatives with immediate access to critical sales information, customized task lists and automated checklists to streamline their activities.  This will enable ASM representatives to maximize their in-store productivity; increase sales for clients; and, enhance overall service levels.
