WALNUT CREEK, Calif., June 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Advisor Partners, a provider of outsourced asset management solutions, announced the expansion of their socially responsible investing (SRI) offering with the introduction of fossil fuel free and empowerment portfolios to address investors' increasing desire to align their investment strategies with their personal values. "We work closely with financial advisors, wealth managers and family offices to structure investment portfolios that address the specific needs of their clients," said President and Chief Investment Officer Daniel S. Kern. "These new portfolios will enable us to better serve the ever-growing desire for SRI solutions."
FOSSIL FUEL FREE PORTFOLIOS
Advisor Partners has been conducting ongoing research on the implications of divestment on investment returns in order to effectively structure portfolios that are responsive to client interest in investing in a way that reflects their deeply held values. They have created both U.S. equity portfolios and ADR portfolios that exclude fossil fuel companies. The portfolios also reflect inclusionary and exclusionary aspects of SRI investment, excluding companies outside of fossil fuels that have unfavorable SRI characteristics and including companies with favorable SRI characteristics.
An empowerment portfolio is one that emphasizes companies with favorable diversity characteristics, such as a higher proportion of women and minorities in senior management and on the board, as well as other attributes that demonstrate that the company values diversity in its workforce. Although diversity and empowerment are core considerations, Advisor Partners also takes other vital SRI considerations into account.
Research indicating that companies with greater gender diversity on boards and in management often experience improved business results was an important motivating factor behind the development of the empowerment portfolio.
Advisor Partners included other SRI considerations that they believe are important to investors who want their portfolios to reflect their personal values. "We went beyond gender in creating the portfolio, as we think that companies with diverse workforces from a gender and a diversity perspective will be better positioned to compete in the global marketplace," said Kern.
The Advisor Partners portfolios will be available through First Affirmative Financial Network, LLC., a nationwide network of financial advisors which has specialized in Sustainable, Responsible and Impact Investing since 1988. Additionally, the portfolios will be broadly available to any advisors who want to be responsive to clients' values-driven investment goals.
