AEG 1EARTH Sustainability Goals Unveiled

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 15, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, AEG, a leading sports and entertainment company, launched its AEG 1EARTH environmental initiative with the release of the industry's first comprehensive sustainability report. The groundbreaking report contains metrics, collected from 20 facilities from within AEG's global network of venues, detailing AEG's commitment to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions, solid waste and water usage at all of its owned and managed facilities worldwide, including STAPLES Center, Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE, The Home Depot Center and Ontario's Citizens Business Bank Arena, by at least 20 percent by 2020.

AEG's commitment to introducing environmental sustainability standards to the industry has previously been represented at STAPLES Center, Rose Garden and Target Center with groundbreaking investments in solar power, LEED-certified green building design and operations, and responsible water management as important first steps to achieving these goals. With AEG 1EARTH, the company plans to knit these previously stand-alone activities into a coordinated, tracked effort that will ultimately engage participation throughout AEG and its partners.

The goal and target-setting process was developed in partnership with Ecologix by Xanterra and verified by FCI Management Consultants, ensuring that while the goals are far-reaching, they are also achievable. The 2020 goals include these:

• 20 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions (CO2 intensity)
• 15 percent of all electricity usage derived from renewable energy sources
• 25 percent of all solid waste diverted from landfill
• 20 percent reduction in water use intensity

AEG will be announcing its 2020 commitments today at its L.A. LIVE "campus" in partnership with America Recycles Day, the only nationally recognized day dedicated to the promotion of recycling programs in the United States, by educating, motivating and inspiring people to recycle. This event will also serve as the official public recycling location in Los Angeles for the collection of light bulbs, batteries and e-waste. The public will also be able to learn about recycling at interactive stations in L.A. LIVE hosted by Coke-Cola, Toyota, ESPN and Waste Management among others.
