AES Eletropaulo Reaches R$ 88.5 Million Reduction in Manageable PMSO New Goal of R$ 140 Million Reduction in 2013

SAO PAULO, Nov. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- AES Eletropaulo (BOVESPA: ELPL3 and ELPL4; ADRs: EPUMY) today announced its results for the third quarter of 2013 (3Q13) and for the nine months of 2013 (9M13).

In 3Q13, the main financial highlight was the year-over-year reduction of R$58.5 million in manageable PMSO expenses adjusted for inflation as measured by IGP-M. In 9M13, the reduction was of R$ 88.5 million. This achievement resulted in the revision of the target reduction for 2013 manageable PMSO in comparison to the 2012 manageable PMSO adjusted by inflation as measured by IGP-M, from R$ 100 million to R$ 140 million, attesting Management's commitment to management practices, with productivity and efficiency gains.

In this quarter, the Company reached EBITDA of R$ 142.4 million and net income of R$ 27.0 million, even considering the amortization of the regulatory liability resulting from the postponement, by Aneel, of the Third Tariff Reset application date.

The total market in AES Eletropaulo's concession area expanded by 2.7% over 3Q12 and came to 11,626 GWh. The increase of 4.2% in the consumption of the total commercial class and of 2.4% in the consumption of the total residential class contributed to this result.

The operational highlight was the total losses indicator, which stood at 9.7% in 3Q13, as a result of the initiatives to reduce illegal connections. SAIDI and SAIFI for the year ending on September 30, 2013 also dropped by 5.0% and 5.2% respectively, below the regulatory limits.

In this quarter, the Company invested R$ 193.4 million, mainly in system expansion and reliability and client services.
