ARLINGTON, Va., April 16, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Air Force Association's Mitchell Institute for Airpower Studies welcomes Dr. Linton Wells II, Director of the Center for Technology and National Security Policy (CTNSP) at National Defense University (NDU), as the guest speaker for an upcoming Mitchell Hour.
This Mitchell event will take place on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at AFA's national headquarters at 1501 Lee Highway, Arlington, VA, next to the Key Bridge Marriott. The presentation will be in AFA's fourth floor boardroom.
Prior to coming to NDU, Dr. Wells served in the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) from 1991 to 2007, serving last as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Networks and Information Integration). In addition, he served as the Acting Assistant Secretary and DoD Chief Information Officer for nearly two years. His other OSD positions included Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence-C3I) and Deputy Under Secretary of Defense in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense.
Dr. Wells graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1967, and in his 26 years of naval service, served on a variety of surface ships, acquiring a wide range of experience in operations analysis; Pacific, Indian Ocean and Middle East affairs; Networks and Information Integration (NII); and special access program oversight.
He has thrice been awarded the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service.
In this Mitchell Hour, Dr. Wells will be discussing the implementation of the DoD Strategy for Operating in Cyberspace (DSOC); the velocity of change in information technology; BRINE (Bio, Robotics, Info-cognitive, Nano-materials, Energy), and more.
