Aggreko Provides Australian Expertise for the LNG Plant in Papua New Guinea

Aggreko, the global leader in the supply of temporary power and temperature control, has begun installation of a power package to support construction of downstream development operations for the Papua New Guinea Liquefied Natural Gas (PNG LNG) project. The project, which seeks to develop Papua New Guinea's natural gas reserves, is jointly owned by four Asian LNG customers: China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec), Osaka Gas Company Limited, The Tokyo Electric Power Company Inc., and Chinese Petroleum Corporation.

Aggreko has been awarded the contract to provide a 4 MW power package to enable the timely commissioning of electrical pumps and compressors until utility power becomes available for the LNG plant. The contract was awarded by Kanto Sangyo Co., which is subcontracted to the Chiyoda JGC Joint Venture as the main contractor of the PNG LNG project.

Examples would be the supply of power to an industrial site which needs to service its permanent power supply, supplying a whole city in times of power shortage, or providing a major sporting event with power and cooling systems. In the Local business, which accounts for about half of our revenues, we hire our equipment to customers, who then operate it for themselves, although we retain responsibility for servicing and maintaining it.
