Aimee Copeland's New Home Addition Reveal Set for August 15
Aimee's Wing - a 2,000-square-feet home addition is ready for her return home
ATLANTA, Aug. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Aimee Copeland's new 1,956-square-foot home addition has been completed ahead of schedule and will be officially turned over to the family during a celebration event on Wednesday, August 15 at 10:15 a.m.
Pulte Homes, along with over 50 of its trade partners who volunteered for the project, donated their time, expertise and materials to ensure that the home addition was completed at no cost to the family and prior to Aimee's return from rehabilitation. The addition was completed in less than 30 days.
"Everyone who worked on Aimee's Wing was inspired and dedicated to ensure quality was built-in to every part of her space – from the rigorous construction methods to the preferred products and features. Aimee's Wing was built to accommodate her needs, designed to fit her personality, and importantly, completed ahead of schedule," said Stephen Haines, vice president for Pulte Homes in Georgia. "We could not be more proud of all our trade partners who built a beautiful new space for Aimee."
The two-story space features a new bedroom, fitness room for rehabilitation, the new Pulte Planning Center, which will be her main study area for her continued education in psychology, and an elevator to access other parts of the home, such as the kitchen.
As a separate project within the Copeland's existing home, The Home Depot, The Home Depot Foundation and the company's Home Services division organized vendor partners, service providers and associate volunteers to provide expert advice, products, installation and financial assistance to create a fully accessible great room. The new great room features a state of the art kitchen, family room and dining area with direct access to Aimee's Wing.
"The Home Depot was honored to work with our vendor partners and service providers to renovate the Copeland's great room, making it safe, comfortable and fully accessible for Aimee when she returns home," said Chris Waits, Regional Vice President, The Home Depot. "Giving back is one of our core values and we are grateful for the opportunity to help to make a difference in Aimee's life."
