Akridge Receives 2014 D.C. Mayor's Sustainability Award

WASHINGTON, July 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Akridge announced today that it was one of seven firms that received the 2014 Washington, D.C. Mayor's Sustainability Award given to companies exhibiting a commitment to environmental excellence in the District of Columbia.  Akridge demonstrates its dedication to conserving energy and minimizing the carbon footprint of its properties by integrating sustainability into many facets of the company's work, including real estate development, leasing, and property management services.  Akridge shares its commitment to sustainability with partners, investors, and employees.

Since 2009, the Mayor's Sustainability Awards, previously called the Mayor's Environmental Excellence Award, have acknowledged outstanding individuals, businesses, schools, institutions, and organizations for their leadership. The winners' projects and programs support the Mayor's Sustainability Plan across the full range of priorities including: the built environment, climate, energy, food, nature, transportation, waste, water, and the green economy.  Other related topics addressed by their efforts include: energy and water conservation, pollution prevention or reduction, resource conservation, low impact development for stormwater management, green building construction and operation, innovative technology, "green" products or services, recycling/composting, environmental leadership, environmental education, and employee commitment.
