Akron Children's Hospital and GlobalCastMD Host a Virtual Symposium on Nystagmus in Infancy and Childhood

AKRON, Ohio, Nov. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Akron Children's Hospital will co-sponsor a live virtual symposium for physicians with GlobalCastMD on a range of topics related to the classification, diagnosis, and medical and surgical management of nystagmus in infancy and childhood. The symposium will be Nov. 13 from 8-11 a.m. EST.

Nystagmus is a rare and incurable eye condition characterized by rapid, uncontrollable eye movements that blur vision. Although the condition cannot be cured, its effects can be moderated.

As a symposium director, Richard Hertle, MD, director of Akron Children's Vision Center, will offer his expertise as a leading investigator in the area of nystagmus and eye movement disorders. Dr. Hertle is one of the only pediatric ophthalmologists in the country who performs complete evaluations and targeted surgical treatments of nystagmus, a systematic approach he helped develop that can improve infantile nystagmus.
