Alessandro Carlucci to be Announced as the New President of the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations
Official ceremony hosted Oct. 6 during annual seminar in Istanbul, Turkey
ISTANBUL, Oct. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The World Federation of Direct Selling Associations (WFDSA), the entity that represents the national associations of this sector, will make official this Thursday, Oct. 6, the nomination of the new president of the institution, Brazilian Alessandro Carlucci, Director President of Natura. His mandate is valid until October 2014, and the executive intends to defend the promotion of the Direct Selling activity worldwide, reinforcing its condition as an important alternative for single entrepreneurs and valuing its contributing for the social transformation through labor. With his new task, taking over Andrea Jung's place, Avon's global president, Carlucci will represent a sector that, in 2010, moved globally USD $132 billion and involved over $88 million sales professionals.
"As a WFDSA representative, our commitment is to finalize the strategic directives of the association, especially the strengthening of direct selling's image and the promotion of Ethics," Carlucci said. For the executive, Direct Selling is an attractive and practical alternative of income because it allows being part of this system through a low investment and it does not require a specific graduation. The Direct Selling industry is present in many countries worldwide, through different segments, such as: cosmetics, food, jewelry, books, household goods, and clothing, among many others.

The Direct Selling sector is identified by the trading of goods and services that independent resellers promote direct and personally to consumers, in their households, offices or in any other places that are not stores. Its main characteristic is the interpersonal relationship, considering that 75% of the world sales happen in the person-to-person method, according to the latest research from WFDSA.
About Alessandro Carlucci
Alessandro Carlucci holds a bachelor's degree in Management from Getulio Vargas. He also attended Kellogg School of Management to conclude his Master's degree. He is the CEO of Natura, where he has worked since 1989, when he first worked as a Marketing & Sales trainee. During the last decade, Carlucci served as Country Manager for Sales and for the coordination of International Sales in the region for Argentina, Chile and Peru, when he lived in Buenos Aires for three years.
Back to Brazil, Carlucci was in charge of the Operations business unit, a position he occupied before becoming President of Natura in 2005. He is now being nominated (October 6th) as Chairman of World Federation of Direct Selling Associations (WFDSA), the entity that congregates the worldwide sales associations. Before the nomination, he held the position of Financial Director at WFDSA. Carlucci is also Advisor Member of the Board of Redecard.
