CHARLES TOWN, W.Va., Sept. 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Catholic International University is set to honor Alex Jones, Founder and CEO of Hallow — a Catholic prayer and meditation app — at their 42nd Annual Gala. Alex launched Hallow just over six years ago. What began as his own personal journey has grown into the largest prayer app in the world, with more than 25 million downloads and nearly a billion prayers prayed. Alex will be honored with the Founder's Award, which recognizes exemplary leadership, faithful service to the Church, and alliance with the University's mission.
"This year, Catholic International University is delighted to honor Alex Jones, a brilliant entrepreneur, as the recipient of the Founder's Award. The great goals we share are cause for celebration, especially since they align with the principle of 'evangelizing by educating and educating by evangelizing,' extolled by Pope Leo XIV," said Dr. Sophia Aguirre, President of Catholic International University. Although raised Catholic, Alex fell away from the Faith as a young man before rediscovering it in the Church's tradition of contemplative meditation. He credits God with inspiring him to found Hallow. Like Catholic International University, Hallow is deeply dedicated to the New Evangelization through faith-filled innovation. "Alex is being honored not only for his outstanding leadership in the Church but his faithful support of our mission to bring Joy from the Truth to communities across the globe through innovation and forward-thinking," said Dr. Aguirre.
The gala will take place at the historic Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, VA, featuring a cocktail hour, silent auction, and dinner program highlighted by the presentation of the Founder's Award, remarks from Very Rev. Dominic Legge, O.P., President of the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., and an address from the University President.
The 42nd Annual Gala is a celebration not only of the University's impressive progress over the last year but also an opportunity for donors to support the university's new innovations and programs that are on the horizon. The gala is Catholic International's largest in-person fundraising celebration of the year. Funds raised during the evening will support the development of new communication initiatives, new technological infrastructure, and new academic programs. All are welcome!
