Align Production Systems Delivers Custom Low-Profile Platform Transporter for Heavy Pallet Handling

Engineered solution allows a single operator to move 30,000-lb pallets in tight facility spaces

CHESTERFIELD, Mo., Oct. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Align Production Systems has successfully engineered and delivered a custom low-profile platform transporter designed to simplify moving heavy, floor-resting pallets in a manufacturing environment. The solution allows one operator to safely lift, transport, and position pallets weighing up to 30,000 pounds.

The customer required a compact transporter capable of fitting into a narrow pallet opening while providing enough lift to clear the floor and navigate tight aisles. Traditional fork-based solutions were not viable due to the pallet geometry and facility layout. Align addressed this challenge by designing a custom platform-style transporter that drives directly into the pallet opening and lifts from below.

"At its core, this is a very straightforward pallet transporter," said Blake Ringger, engineer at Align Production Systems. "You drive underneath the pallet, lift it, move it where it needs to go, and set it down. It's a unit that gets the job done and is designed to be easy to maintain."

Designed Around the Process
The transporter was engineered specifically around the customer's pallet footprint and load distribution. A single drive header unit paired with idler wheel sets provides intuitive steering and a tight turning radius, allowing operators to maneuver confidently through congested production areas. The system is powered by a lithium-ion battery, supporting extended runtime between charges.

Key features of the transporter include:

• 30,000-lb load capacity for heavy industrial pallets
• Low-profile design with just over three inches of hydraulic lift
• Single-drive steering for predictable, car-like navigation
• RF remote control for one-person operation
• Integrated safety features, including emergency stops and system status indicators

Measurable Impact on Operations
Since implementation, the transporter has streamlined pallet movement across the facility. Tasks that once required multiple operators or coordinated forklift use can now be completed by a single person. Operators quickly became comfortable with the controls, reducing training time and allowing material to flow more efficiently between work areas.

By eliminating unnecessary re-staging and improving maneuverability in tight spaces, the transporter helps keep production moving and reduces delays associated with heavy pallet handling.

Built for Long-Term Serviceability
To support long-term reliability, Align designed the transporter as a modular system. Major sections bolt together, the lift top can be removed by crane, and critical components such as idler wheels, auto-greasers, and battery access points are easy to reach. This service-focused approach minimizes downtime and simplifies routine maintenance.

A Simple, Purpose-Built Solution
This project highlights Align Production Systems' ability to design equipment that fits into a customer's process. By focusing on exact pallet geometry, simple operation, and very little maintenance, Align delivered a transporter that meets daily production demands without unnecessary complexity.
