ALL Charges Dropped By Utah Court Against Wrongfully Accused New York Couple
NEW YORK, May 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to inquiries regarding the dismissal of all charges against them by the prosecutor in the third district, Summit County, Utah court, former defendants Anne Hardcastle and Michael Taylor, falsely accused of engaging in criminal misconduct, today stated:
"Our innocence is now recognized and upheld. This nightmare concocted by an individual and the representatives of the State of Utah and Summit County is finally over. Sadly this is a nightmare that should never have happened if both law enforcement and the judicial process had properly assessed the facts and acted in a manner consistent with the truth. We were the true victims of lies and fabrications and a legal process predicated on, among other things, an ill-conceived police investigation that was blatantly biased and a clear abuse of prosecutorial power."
"And finally, as important as anything, false accusations like these hurt legitimate victims which deeply saddens us and further emboldens us to expose the injustice we've endured."
The dismissed cases ( #s16150027 and 161500278) involved alleged misconduct by Ms. Hardcastle and Mr. Taylor at the time they attended the 2016 Sundance Film Festival in Utah. While constantly maintaining their innocence, both were subsequently arrested and forced to live under a cloud of suspicion, further fanned by titillating media coverage, for well over a year.
