Allscripts opens European headquarters in Manchester

MANCHESTER, England, June 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Allscripts, a global healthcare IT company, opened its new European headquarters today in Manchester, United Kingdom. The selection of Manchester is expected to result in skilled jobs creation and strong links with the NHS and local academic centres.

Allscripts has worked with pioneering NHS bodies for many years and specialises in technology that will help the NHS meet a number of its national objectives. It has chosen Manchester as a regional flagship location over a number of other European cities.

Allscripts provides electronic patient record technology that enables NHS organisations to deliver critical information where it needs to be. It facilitates better sharing of patient information between medical professionals, so that they can deliver more effective care to patients. This also enables the NHS to provide patients with access to their own records, encouraging them to take greater participation in their own care.

Allscripts chose Manchester for a variety of reasons, including

• Informatics skills base,
• Strong international links, and
• Value for money over other locations, which will provide savings that can be passed on to NHS clients.

Allscripts expects to create more than 100 highly skilled jobs over the next two or three years, with recruitment in research and software development, sales, project management and implementation services.

Manchester also appealed to Allscripts as the company has already delivered electronic patient record systems to two NHS organisations in the North West: Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Allscripts solutions have helped both of those trusts deliver better and safer patient care.
