Allstate Ranks Second on 2019 Military Friendly® Employers List

Company earns distinction for third consecutive year

NORTHBROOK, Ill., Sept. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Allstate announced today that it has earned the second spot on the 2019 Military Friendly^® Employers list for its efforts to hire, develop and retain veterans and military spouses. This is the third consecutive year Allstate has been recognized as a Military Friendly^® Employer.

Allstate was honored for its military and veteran programs, including its Joining Forces for Good licensing initiative, which helps transitioning veterans become licensed sales professionals and work for an Allstate agency owner. More than 150 veterans were hired through the program in 2017. Additionally, 215 veterans were hired in other roles at Allstate during 2017.

Allstate was also recognized for donating more than $350,000 and volunteering more than 3,000 hours to nonprofits and organizations that serve military members and veterans. The company's Allstate Veterans Engagement Team and Supporters (AVETS) Employee Resource Group, which is designed to provide veterans, active military and their loved ones with community and support to succeed at Allstate, also helped it earn a spot on the list.

Supporting active military and veterans is a part of Allstate's broader commitment to inclusive diversity. Allstate also establishes inclusive diversity commitments in every business unit to improve diversity in its talent recruiting efforts and on its leadership teams.

Institutions earning the Military Friendly^® Employer designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than 200 companies participated in the Military Friendly^® Employers portion of the 2019 Military Friendly^® Companies survey.

Methodology, criteria and weightings were determined by VIQTORY with input from the Military Friendly^® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining an organization's survey score with an assessment of its ability to meet thresholds for Applicant, New Hire Retention, Employee Turnover, and Promotion & Advancement of veterans and military employees.
