Altai Technologies Unwires Rural Areas of Liaoning Province in China

HONG KONG, Nov. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Altai Technologies Limited today announced that a tier-one mobile operator in China has selected Altai's smart antenna technology-based A8 Super WiFi Base Stations to provide wireless connectivity in the rural areas of Liaoning province, China.  The tier-one mobile operator chose to deploy the wireless networks using Altai's Super WiFi Solution because it offered rapid roll-out with excellent coverage at an affordable price. 

The population density is relatively low in these rural areas and it is very costly for the operator to provide internet access using DSL, fiber or cellular technologies (2.5G/3G).  The tier-one mobile operator needed an alternative wireless solution that could be collocated with its existing cellular infrastructures so as to minimize installation cost and shorten the deployment time.   The operator found Altai's A8-Ei Super WiFi Base Station to be the ideal solution not only due to its superior performance and the ability to minimize interference from other radio frequency bands, but also it imposes no interference to the existing cellular infrastructure.  

There are now over 5,000 A8-Ei installed on 30m high cellular towers to provide wireless access across the villages in Liaoning.  By using CPEs on the client side, each A8-Ei can achieve a radius of 3-4km in line-of-sight environment. The WiFi network covers farmyards and surroundings to provide seamless wireless access to over 120,000 families in the rural areas.  The yearly subscription fee is RMB400-600 for maximum download speeds of 2Mbps.
