Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation (Global) Supports Victims of Nepal's Earthquake with $1,000,000
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, April 28, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The belief of the Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation-Global (Registered in Lebanon), and the Board of Trustees HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, is in supporting people affected by natural disasters. As an extension of this belief, the Alwaleed Foundation has supported the victims of the Nepal earthquake with 1,000,000 US Dollars. The earthquake took place on Saturday, April 25 and measured 7.8 on the Richter scale. The donation by Alwaleed Foundation was made through international local agencies such as International Medical Corps, Habitat for Humanity and the World Food Program.
Nepal is a country in the Himalayas between India and China. On the 27th of this month, the local disaster center announced that the earthquake was the worst in 80 years, and the death toll rose to 4300 with more than 8000 wounded. The earthquake led to the collapse of a tower and a number of historic, and archaeological modern buildings and affected remote mountainous areas and coastal areas where there are likely high numbers of casualties especially in Bokhar city. The earthquake affected the region close to India from Nepal, where they announced the deaths of at least twenty.
