American Contract Bridge League Introduces Bridge to Masses, Expands Online Play and Masterpoint Earning Options

Members can earn Masterpoints^® on six online platforms starting July 1

HORN LAKE, Miss., June 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Contract Bridge League recently announced it is expanding its online presence with a broader lineup of web-based platforms where players can earn ACBL Masterpoints®, the league's exclusive measure of achievement in duplicate bridge. Starting July 1, ACBL members can compete for Masterpoints on six approved online platforms, making it easier to advance in the game.

Masterpoints are awarded in six color categories and essential to climb the ACBL's 16 player ranks. This expansion gives members more flexibility in how and where they earn points. Each platform offers a unique playing experience, from self-paced learning to live video tables with opponents from around the world. For the past 10 years, Bridge Base Online has been the primary site for earning Masterpoints online. With this change, ACBL is partnering with additional providers to expand the field of play and give members more options.

"By broadening online access to Masterpoints, we are giving our members more ways to play, learn and connect, allowing us to build a stronger, more vibrant bridge community."

Online platforms where ACBL members can earn Masterpoints are:

• Bridge Base Online (BBO): Hosts the ACBL Clubhouse, sanctioned games, social tables with video chat and more, blending tradition and innovation.
• Funbridge: Allows members to play at their own pace with a virtual partner who adapts to their style. Great for beginners and free for junior members.
• Shark Bridge: Promotes education with a bot or live play options. This app features ACBL's newly created beginners' game, BridgeWar™.
• IntoBridge: Features both classic and innovative formats, live chat, audio/video, ranked games and celebrity challenges.
• RealBridge: Offers real-time games with video and audio, bringing the face-to-face experience online. Hosts Social Bridge Night is a fun, casual way to play online with friends.
• OKbridge: Offers customizable game formats with a long-running platform for live play using the Lehman rating system.

This digital expansion reflects ACBL's commitment to making bridge more accessible and adaptable to the evolving needs of today's players. Whether someone is new to the game or has played for decades, they now have more options to stay connected and engaged.
