American Veterans Add To Support For Proposition 33
AMVETS JOIN THE COALITION OF VETERAN SUPPORT FOR PROP 33
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- AMVETS, or American Veterans, has announced its support for Proposition 33. The AMVETS Department of California Executive Committee meeting held in Visalia on October 6, voted unanimously to support Proposition 33, the Auto Insurance Discount Act, which protects military personnel who have lapsed in car insurance coverage due to active service.
"AMVETS, Department of California is pleased to join with other major veterans service organizations and USAA in supporting Proposition 33, which will help our military and veterans get lower insurance rates," said Ray Delgado, Department Commander, AMVETS.
AMVETS joins a league of veteran and public safety supporters for Proposition 33 including: American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) of California, American GI Forum, Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC), California Association of Highway Patrolmen, and CDF Firefighters Local 2881, among others.
"I am really excited about Prop 33, it will especially help our enlisted military members and their families to save money," said Lorraine Plass, AMVETS' Legislative Chair.
AMVETS or American Veterans was formed in 1944 to help WWII veterans obtain the benefits promised to them by the federal government. AMVETS continues this commitment to America's veterans, their families, and the active military by assisting them to secure their earned entitlements. AMVETS strongly supports legislation to provide extended care services to veterans which will improve the needs of an aging veteran population. AMVETS Department of California has over 10,000 members and over 50 local posts in the state.
