Americans Are Ready to Sue AI: New Pearl Study Finds 39% Willing to Sue for Mistakes

According to the report, 57% of U.S. adults hold AI platforms legally responsible for inaccuracy, while 39% say they'd consider suing an AI provider if it provided harmful or incorrect information.

Commissioned by third-party research firm Censuswide, the study surveyed over 2,000 Americans nationwide—shining a bright spotlight on a rapidly changing AI landscape. As AI becomes deeply woven into everyday life, consumers are speaking up: they want trust, accuracy, and accountability.

Key findings include:

Methodology

The research was conducted by Censuswide, among a sample of 2,000 Consumers in the US (aged 16+). The data was collected between December 17 – 20, 2024.
