Amerigroup Foundation Presents Grant to Empty Stocking Fund

ATLANTA, Dec. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Amerigroup Foundation announced today that it has provided a $20,000 grant to the Empty Stocking Fund in Atlanta, Ga.

Since 1927 the Empty Stocking Fund has provided gifts for children, living at or below the poverty level, in the greater Atlanta area.  The $20,000 grant along with other community donations will help the Empty Stocking Fund provide Christmas gifts to 50,000 children in need this year.  

"We are so appreciative to have received this grant from the Amerigroup Foundation," said Manda Hunt, executive director of the Empty Stocking Fund.  "With this grant we will be able to provide gifts to thousands of children in the Atlanta area.  It is because of the support of organizations like the Amerigroup Foundation that we are able to sustain and flourish and help those in need."

In addition to the grant, more than 20 Amerigroup employees volunteered at Santa's Village, the Empty Stocking Fund's toy distribution center, which allows parents and guardians to select gifts for their children.
