Ameritox is Named Strategic Alliance Member of Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association National Labor Office

BALTIMORE, May 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ameritox(SM) announced that it has been chosen as a strategic alliance member by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association's National Labor Office (NLO).

The NLO is the liaison between the 37 independent Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) companies and labor unions, which account for over 17 million BCBS members. As a strategic alliance member, Ameritox will have the opportunity to offer its services to Blue companies in addressing prescription medication misuse and abuse. NLO strategic alliances, which include 11 other companies, are aimed at providing union members with services that can improve the quality, efficiency and affordability of care.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one person dies every 19 minutes from prescription drug abuse in the U.S. In 29 states, more people died last year from drug overdoses than from car accidents, according to Trust for America's Health, a non-profit, non-partisan research organization.
