An Online Arts Education Party

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 19, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Arts Bridging the Gap, an arts education non-profit, is launching #ArtsEdDay to create awareness of the need for Arts Education for all children and to celebrate the fun that can be had when learning.

Low-income students who are highly engaged in the arts are twice as likely to graduate college as their peers with no arts education.[1]Yet 97% of elementary schools nation wide don't offer dance and 96% don't offer theatre.[2]

The US Government's Champions of Change Report – 'The Impact of Arts on Learning' proved through numerous studies across a variety of states and schools that Arts Education was resoundingly effective in improving the academic results of children in underserved communities.

Because of the large gap between school performance of affluent children and undeserved youth in America the US currently ranks 33^rd in the world for Math and Science scores. If this gap was bridged and the U.S. scores matched Canada's at number seven, America's gross domestic product would increase by 6.7 percent; which would equal approximately $10 trillion by 2050.[3]

There are a number of ways for everyone be part of #ArtsEdDay online.

• Everyone is encouraged to write the name of their favorite Arts teacher and share it.
• Artists are invited to post a piece of art they did when they were at school.
• Teachers are encouraged to integrate the Arts into one of their lessons and share.
• Students are invited to share their art online.
• Everyone is invited to share how Arts Education has made their lives better.
