Anchin announces Paul Williams of the Dormitory Authority State of New York as Keynote Speaker for the New York Construction Awards on June 19, 2014

NEW YORK, May 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The annual New York Construction Awards, presented in cooperation with the New York Building Congress (NYBC) and industry partners, American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC-NY) and the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter (AIA-NY), and hosted by Anchin, Block & Anchin LLP, will take place on June 19, 2014 at Bloomberg Headquarters in New York City. This event is designed to highlight Construction, Design, and Development industry leaders while providing an incredible opportunity to network with other industry colleagues and professionals.

Anchin is proud to announce Paul T. Williams, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of DASNY, as keynote speaker for the event. Mr. Williams is responsible for the overall management of the administration and operations of DASNY, one of the leading public finance and construction management agencies in the nation. Throughout his career, Mr. Williams has served as an appointed member on numerous committees, commissions and task forces including: New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Appointments Committee, the Greater New York Hospital Association Task Force on Diversity, the United Negro College Fund, and the Hale House Foundation interim board of directors. Mr. Williams is licensed to practice law in the State of New York and holds a Bachelor's degree from Yale University and a Juris Doctor degree from Columbia University School of Law.

Applications for award submissions began in March 2014 and will include five categories for awards. The Industry Impact Awards will be geared towards industry leaders who have had a transformational effect on the New York metropolitan area, have had a substantial economic impact on construction in New York, have created jobs, and/or have worked on a unique and/or innovative project. The Legacy Award will honor a company that has developed and grown over multiple generations, displaying sustained fiscal strength, longevity and stability.

The Rising Star Awards will recognize Construction and Design stars based on accelerated growth, highlighting the industries' fastest growing companies. The Outstanding Public Service Award will celebrate an outstanding company who has contributed significantly to New York and its communities. Lastly, the Outstanding MWBE Award will recognize a growing MWBE company in Construction or Design.
