Anchin, Block & Anchin Promotes Community Impact with CARE Committee
NEW YORK, Dec. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- New York City based accounting firm Anchin, Block & Anchin is celebrating the holiday season by continuing its tradition of generosity and community outreach through its CARE Committee.
Anchin's philosophy of community outreach consists, not only of donations, but hands-on volunteer work as well. 2014 marked the fourth consecutive year of the Firm's participation in the Adopt-A-School Program, in which Anchin partners with P.S. 8 Isaac Varian in the Bronx and supports the 5th grade teachers and students, both with financial and educational contributions. The Firm visits several times per year and engages the students in fun and informative sessions, leaving behind gifts for each classroom, including supplies, educational games and awards for the Student of the Month, an honor that Anchin gives to one student each month who has shown exemplary work and efforts. The Firm also invites the students to visit Anchin's offices in midtown for a day of fun and thought-provoking activities designed to inform the students about office life.
Anchin will be expanding its scholarly outreach to the high school level through a partnership with Broome Street Academy, where the Firm will give lectures about best practices in business, resume building, job hunting and other related topics.
In addition to these programs, Anchin holds two blood drives each year with the New York Blood Center, and the Firm organizes and encourages volunteer work in community kitchens through the Food Bank for New York City. Anchin also supports The Bowery Mission with both food and monetary donations and supports the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the American Heart Association and City Harvest.
The art of giving back is so widely practiced throughout the Firm that even recreational activities have become charitable events. Several Anchin staff members competed in a Tough Mudder race benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project, and each year, the prize for the Firm's annual Texas Hold'em Tournament involves a charitable donation to the organization of the winner's choosing. The Firm will also be partnering with Toys for Tots, a cause which will allow them to combine staff enjoyment and teambuilding with charitable donations in the form of Anchin-assembled bicycles for youth just in time for the holidays.
