Anchin, Block & Anchin Supports Adopt-A-Classroom for Third Year in a Row

NEW YORK, April 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Anchin, Block & Anchin LLP is proud to announce that the firm will again be sponsoring Adopt-A-Classroom. This program allows companies to select a classroom and make contributions for teachers to use towards much needed resources for their classroom. Anchin started their involvement by donating money to purchase classroom supplies and by collecting school supplies from firm members. Partners donated backpacks to some 50 homeless children at the school and a firm-wide drive allowed employees to donate school supplies to fill those backpacks. "Anchin is thrilled to be a part of this organization. The idea is to touch students' lives, to be more involved and not just donate money," said David Finkelstein, CPA, Director of Human Resources. "We want to make a lasting impression and teach students to enjoy participating in academics and school activities."

Anchin has been supporting the P.S. 8 Briggs Academy's 5^th grade class for the past 3 years. They have helped support the building of a new library at the school along with providing basketball jerseys for student-teacher competitions, supplying toys at holiday parties and hosting award ceremonies at the school to encourage children to actively participate in academic challenges. The firm not only helps support the students and teachers by donating money, but the partners also regularly visit the school and host events for the teachers and children—both inside and outside of the classroom. Anchin hosts field trips to their offices, invites the teachers to the company holiday party and even helps chaperone school dances. Both teachers and students communicate with Anchin throughout the school year to relay messages about the difference they have made in the lives of the students. Every year Anchin receives thank you packages, artwork and other student created projects as a heartfelt thank you.

The fifth grade teachers recently sent a collective thank you letter to Anchin: "We will forever be in debt to you for the kindness you have shown our children. From the donation of school supplies, your visit to our classrooms and the opening of your offices to us, these actions have undoubtedly left an everlasting impression in all of our hearts. We believe this experience has also taught the children the importance of doing good for others when it is within your means."
