Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Opens Littleton Store to Sell Individual Plans

LITTLETON, Colo., July 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Colorado today opened its first retail store, giving members and consumers one more way to learn about and secure individual health insurance.  The new store, located in Southwest Plaza in Littleton, will allow consumers the opportunity to buy individual policies, receive answers to questions about their coverage and even get health screenings.

The store is staffed with Anthem sales associates who can help potential or existing members find an Individual or Family plan that fits their needs and budgets. These associates will focus on individual health insurance plans rather than group plans, offering as many options as possible to our individual members and potential members. The sales associates cannot make broker changes.

The Anthem store is intended to complement our current sales channels, including the Anthem Website and our licensed brokers.  "The new store rounds out the other options that we have available – it's another arrow in our quiver," said Robert Ruiz-Moss,  Micro-Market Lead West for Anthem. "We see the potential with health care reform that people will be making more individual choices about their health insurance needs, and this store allows consumers to explore their options in a format similar to their other shopping experiences."

The walk-in store offers an engaging experience with wellness kiosks, a juice bar and a children's play area. In addition to face-to-face interactions with Anthem sales associates, individuals will also be able to access online and telephone customer service functions.

Anthem is committed to consumer choice and offering as many options as possible to Coloradans.  The Littleton store is part of a nationwide test for Anthem and, if successful, may serve as the model for future stores.
