Science-backed, brief remote assessment delivers results comparable to hours-long in-person exam—easing health system strain and expanding patient access

BOSTON, March 18, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Ninety-two percent of patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), a precursor of dementia, go undetected, leaving millions without access to early interventions. MCI detection generally requires an in-person screening by a clinician followed by a multi-hour evaluation by a neuropsychologist. Linus Health has launched Anywhere for Health Systems™, an FDA-listed, AI-enhanced cognitive assessment that goes beyond traditional remote detection. It's a fast, convenient assessment tool that patients or their care partners can administer at the request of their primary care provider (PCP) before or after an in-clinic cognitive assessment. This FDA Class II medical device offers a highly accurate, peer-reviewed battery of tests accessing four critical cognitive abilities or domains. With established integrations in major EHR systems, users have the ability to assign assessments directly from the EHR to receive and share results as needed.

Most providers recognize the importance of assessing cognitive function in patients 55 years and older during wellness visits and routine exams, but they often do not have the time due to their busy schedules and large caseloads. As a result, large numbers of patients with MCI go undiagnosed and untreated until it is too late to delay or prevent dementia. Clinicians also have the option to review a recording of the patient's test, providing additional context for the assessment. This streamlined approach helps rule out patients who do not require further triage, leading to more accurate referrals and earlier interventions. At the same time, it supports billing opportunities for both routine and specialist consultations, ultimately improving patient outcomes.

In a study comparing Linus Health's remote assessment to a gold-standard three-hour neuropsychological evaluation followed by a diagnosis, the Linus tool was found to have:

• 91% accuracy in detecting mild cognitive impairment
• 95% accuracy in detecting early dementia
