AORN Announces Executive New Hire Deborah Cooksey to Lead AORN Division of Nursing

DENVER, Colo., Oct 10, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) is pleased to announced that Deborah Cooksey, MBA, MS, RN, CNOR, recently joined the organization as Vice President of Nursing. Cooksey has 30 years of perioperative nursing leadership experience in hospital and outpatient settings. She is reporting to AORN CEO/Executive Director Linda Groah, MSN, RN, CNOR, NEA-BC, FAAN.

Cooksey's perioperative nursing leadership experience includes progressive responsibility for operations, quality and systems improvement, as well as financial performance of clinical and support services for outpatient and acute-care facilities. Most recently, Cooksey served as director, perioperative services at Jackson Hospital & Clinics in Montgomery, Ala., where she managed more than 140 employees and was accountable for a $25,000,000 budget across all departments.

Cooksey holds a Master of Science and Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Emory University. She is certified as a perioperative registered nurse.
