Apollidon Names New Board Chairman - Dr. Modesto Maidique

OLDSMAR, Fla., April 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Apollidon Learning LLC announces Florida International University ("FIU") President Emeritus, Modesto Alex "Mitch" Maidique, Ph.D. has joined the organization as Chairman of the Board.

From 1986 to 2009, Modesto A. Maidique served as president of Florida International University (FIU) and led its transformation from a comprehensive university to a major research university classified in the highest ranking awarded by the Carnegie Foundation. Currently he is the executive director of the FIU Center for Leadership and has been recently honored as a "Miami Living Legend" by Miami Today newspaper. Previously he was honored by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce with the "Sand in my Shoes" award.  Prior to FIU, he held positions at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University and Stanford University. Dr. Maidique also served as VP and general manager of the Semiconductor Division of Analog Devices, Inc. which he co-founded, as president and CEO of Genome Therapeutics Corporation (formerly known as Collaborative Research, Inc.), a genetic engineering firm, and as a general partner of Hambrecht & Quist, a venture capital firm.
