Application Process Now Open for the 2010 - 2013 Round of the Enterprise Rose Architectural Fellowship

COLUMBIA, Md., March 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The Enterprise Rose Architectural Fellowship is accepting applications for its 2010 – 2013 class of grassroots community architects. Celebrating a decade of design excellence, the fellowship is a unique three-year program that pairs exceptional, socially minded architects with community development corporations (CDCs) to help create affordable, green communities. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. EDT, Thursday, April 15, 2010.

"During the course of this fellowship, young designers use their skills for the double benefit of helping their hosts organizations develop strong built environments while connecting with low income communities emerging into the world of green design," said Katie Swenson, senior director of fellowships, Enterprise Community Partners, and former fellow with Piedmont Housing Alliance in Charlottesville, Va.

Applicants must possess a professional degree in architecture with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better from an accredited college or university, or expect to earn a degree prior to the beginning of the fellowship. A graduate degree and approximately three years of professional experience is preferred, though not required.

The host organizations for the fellowships beginning in September include Color Country Community Housing, Inc. in St. George, Utah; InterIm Community Development Association in Seattle, Wash.; Neighborhood Progress, Inc. in Cleveland, Ohio and PathStone in Ponce, Puerto Rico. These CDCs serve rural, urban and agricultural communities and are committed to incorporating sustainable building practices into their development efforts.
