DENVER, March 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), the international consulting and engineering company, today announced the expansion of ARCADIS U.S. (formerly Malcolm Pirnie), to the U.S. Virgin Islands. With this development, ARCADIS claims the largest environmental engineering and consulting presence in the territory.
Jed JohnHope, Senior Chemical Engineer for ARCADIS U.S., will lead the new office, located on the island of St. Croix in Christiansted. JohnHope will be joined Narcisse Abraham, Michael Alexander, Andy Chelcher, Ariela Hayes, Angel Perez and Jonas Verhoff. These individuals – all natives of the U.S. Virgin Islands – possess more than 50 years of collective experience in the environmental industry. ARCADIS currently has ongoing projects with HOVENSA L.L.C. and the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority.
The office will support a variety of local industrial, municipal, commercial, federal and hotel development projects. "Our team's expertise as employees of one of the world's most trusted engineering firms, combined with our unique perspectives as Virgin Islanders, enables ARCADIS to become the area's leader in environmental and civil engineering," said JohnHope. "In lieu of importing consultants from outside the territory, local clients can now enlist our support to receive environmental design and engineering services that are enhanced by an unmatched understanding of the area."
Added Rep. Donna M. Christensen (D-VI), Delegate to Congress for the U.S. Virgin Islands: "It is truly a pleasure to welcome ARCADIS U.S., to St. Croix. We are indeed fortunate to have them at this time of major environmental challenges and high unemployment, and to have a son of the soil, Jed JohnHope, leading the company and enlisting other bright Virgin Islanders to join him. I look forward to working with what I know will be a great corporate citizen."
