LOS ANGELES, Aug. 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday, August 26th, 2017, the Los Angeles Archdiocese will celebrate the 7th annual procession, Mass and feast in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Angels, for whom the city is named: "El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora de Los Ángeles." The event brings together L.A.'s rich multicultural communities and is organized by The Queen of Angels Foundation and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.
Celebrating the Mass will be Archbishop José H. Gomez who encouraged all Catholics and Angelenos to honor the Patroness of Los Angeles, saying: "The rich culture of our Archdiocese, like the city of Los Angeles, is unlike any other in our country. The name of Los Angeles is dedicated to the angels and the Mother of Jesus, who is the Queen of all the Angels in heaven. This Mass reminds us that all of California and the Americas – are built on a Christian foundation."
After the votive Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, a procession with banners, flags, color guards and bagpipers will make its way through the streets of Los Angeles, ending at Our Lady Queen of Angels "La Placita" Church. The event organizer and chairman of The Queen of Angels Foundation, Mark Anchor Albert, stated: "It's amazing to see how this event continues to grow and how the city comes together to honor our Blessed Mother." Board member Lannette Turicchi added "We've revived a Los Angeles tradition that dates back to the city's founding in 1781."
The Mass, Grand Marian Procession and fiesta are free of charge. All are invited to attend this Saturday, August 26th, 2017, starting at 3:00pm, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, 555 W Temple St, Los Angeles, CA 90012. Seating is on a first come, first served basis.
