Art Van Furniture To Open Design Centers

WARREN, Mich., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- A name synonymous with high quality furniture, talented designers, and outstanding service returns to Michigan - with a brand new twist.  Art Van Furniture, Michigan's largest furniture retailer, announced today it is launching "Scott Shuptrine Interiors" in 8 of its 33 stores. The design centers will address the needs of guests who desire distinctive furniture and interior design services at Art Van values.

"The Scott Shuptrine name is being revived because it has strong name recognition and high regard," said Art Van Elslander, Founder and Chairman of Art Van Furniture. The three Metro Detroit stores closed in 2002, but Art Van Furniture, the parent company, retained the carriage-house name.   The design centers will be available in key stores that target the upper end client including Warren, Grand Rapids, Novi, Sterling Heights, Lansing, Traverse City and Petoskey.   Each center will be 4,500 square feet, carry premiere furniture lines and staff two certified interior designers.    

One of Michigan's most prominent interior designers has been tapped to head the new venture.

Shirley Maddalena, of Maddalena Design of Birmingham, is a certified interior designer who has been in practice for more than 3 decades.  Maddalena enjoys a long list of high-end clients from FORTUNE 500 companies to the homes of prominent business owners and athletes.  "Ms. Maddalena will bring an unparalleled level of professionalism and savvy to the design table," Van Elslander continued.
