VANCOUVER, Nov. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ - Athabasca Uranium Inc. is pleased to announce that it has appointed renowned uranium exploration expert Dr. Zoltan Hajnal, PhD (GeoPh) to its Advisory Committee, effective immediately.
Dr. Hajnal is a leading expert in the application of seismic methods in uranium exploration and is credited, amongst many accomplishments, with having analyzed seismic data at Hathor Exploration's Roughrider Project, which contributed to the discovery of the Roughrider deposit, currently the subject of the ongoing Cameco-Rio Tinto bidding war. A Ph.D. in Geophysics from the University of Manitoba, Dr. Hajnal has a fifty-year history of studying and employing geophysics world-wide. His professional career in geophysical interpretation began with Chevron Standard in 1963, and his recent implementation of modern applied seismology in the Athabasca Basin have led to recognition of the immense importance of spatial understanding of basement structures, and their originating lithospheric processes in selection of exploration area and subsequent drilling targets. He and his laboratory are involved in adaptation of more effective data acquisition systems in the rugged environment of the basin and development of data specific signal enhancement software systems. Dr. Hajnal has also recently led the geophysical team at Athabasca Uranium to reanalyze the HD seismic and airborne AeroTem data for the Company's Keefe Lake Project, on which the Company is currently completing a 10-hole 3,000-meter drill program.
Gil Schneider, Athabasca CEO stated "We are extremely fortunate to have engaged Dr. Hajnal, both for his work on our Keefe Lake Project and for our Advisory Committee. In trying to replicate the Hathor exploration success story, we recognize the key components, the comprehensive integrated analysis, that Dr. Hajnal and his team can provide. His direct success experience in the Basin will certainly assist Athabasca in all aspects of exploration."
