AT&T, Communications Workers of America Agree to Continue Negotiations as Midwest, East and Legacy T Core Wireline Contracts Expire

DALLAS, April 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T* today announced that while a settlement was not reached with the Communications Workers of America by the expiration of the Midwest, East, and Legacy T Core Wireline contracts, the parties continue to negotiate.

The Midwest contract expired at 11:59 p.m. CDT and covers nearly 13,000 employees in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin.  East and Legacy T expired at 11:59 p.m. EDT; East covers about more than 3,000 employees in Connecticut and Legacy T covers nearly 6,000 employees spread across the country.

The ongoing negotiation reflects the spirit of the longstanding relationship between the company and the union.  Employees will work under the terms of the expired contract while negotiations continue.

AT&T continues to bargain with the CWA in the West region, where the contract expires at 11:59 p.m. PDT.
