LONDON, Nov. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T* Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Randall Stephenson, was named Total Telecom's CEO of the Year at this year's 13th annual World Communication Awards.
"I am honored to receive this recognition which reflects the tremendous efforts of the nearly 260,000 AT&T employees worldwide. On their behalf, I want to thank the readers of Total Telecom," said Randall Stephenson, chairman and chief executive officer, AT&T. "This is an incredible time for our industry with many telecom companies around the world doing truly impressive work."
About 600 global telecom senior executives attended the awards ceremony at The London Hilton on Park Lane hosted by Total Telecom, a premier news source for global communications professionals.
The CEO of the Year Award is an industry-voted category. Mr. Stephenson was voted CEO of the Year by a poll of readers and users of Total Telecom, following nominations of candidates who were whittled down to a short list of ten CEOs selected by the Total Telecom editorial team.
"The CEOs who made the shortlist were not judged by company size or financial success, they were those who best exhibited the 'X-factor' and have driven corporate or industry success," said Mary Lennighan, Editor, Total Telecom.
