AT&T Tallies More Than 550 Upgrades to Wireless Network in West Virginia

CHARLESTON, W. Va., March 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T¹ has upgraded its wireless network within West Virginia with more than 550 enhancements during 2016. The completed improvements include adding greater capacity and speeds to cell towers across the state.

"Our West Virginia employees are focused on bringing a better mobile experience across the state. Our investment in the local wireless network is one way we're accomplishing that," said J. Michael Schweder, president of AT&T Mid-Atlantic.

We're seeing increased data usage across our mobile network, especially at big events. In fact, data on our mobile network has increased about 250,000% since 2007, and the majority of that traffic is video.

These upgrades include adding capacity to hundreds of wireless cell sites, which increases data speeds for people accessing them.

Our 4G LTE network is essential to laying the foundation for our 5G Evolution. We are increasing network speeds and capacity, as we continue to densify our wireless network through the deployment of small cells and the use of advanced network technologies like carrier aggregation.
