Attorney Michelle May O'Neil Presents Texas Divorce/Small Business Webinar
The program, titled "Small Business Issues in a Texas Divorce" was co-presented by Attorney Jere Hayes Hight, also from O'Neil Wysocki Family Law
DALLAS, March 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Divorce/Small business webinar topics to be covered include; dividing small businesses as a marital asset, small business valuation, and other pertinent divorce matters when spouses share an enterprise together.
"Small Business Issues in a Texas Divorce" was also presented in partnership with West LegalEdcenter, a Continuing Legal Education resource for attorneys looking for accredited educational opportunities within their given practice area. West LegalEdcenter hosts its webinars for 180 days, allowing family law practitioners to access the content at their convenience.
In the hour-long session, Attorneys O'Neil and Hight discussed the added complications small businesses provide during the Texas divorce process. Not only do these include the valuation of small businesses, but a nuanced look into the business (or parts of the business) as separate and marital property.
The attorneys also covered an often ignored topic: the continued operation of a jointly-owned business following the completion of the divorce. When spouses wish to continue to run their business together after their divorce, ongoing operation agreements may be required. Other actions, such as securing pay-off judgements and the withdrawal of a client from the business entity were also discussed.
Both Attorneys O'Neil and Hight are well-respected figures in the Texas family law arena. Attorney Michelle May O'Neil has more than two decades of experience in the practice area and has helmed dozens of published cases in the Court of Appeals for the Fifth District of Texas. Attorney Hight's work in family law has earned him recognition from both Texas Super Lawyers and the Annette Steward Inns of Court.
"Small Business Issues in a Texas Divorce" will be available from West LegalEdcenter until Saturday, August 27. For information on the presentation and West LegalEdcenter, please visit http://westlegaledcenter.com/.
