AT&T's Commitment to Machine-to-Machine Solutions Recognized in Survey of IT Decision-Makers by Independent Research Firm
DALLAS, Feb. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T* has been ranked as the preferred carrier sales channel for Machine-to-Machine (M2M) solutions in a survey of IT decision-makers who use or plan to use M2M services. The Yankee Group report, "A Closer Look at M2M Carrier Strategy," highlights the results of this survey and explores the U.S. carriers that have made connected devices a focal point in their future network plans.
"Of the four main U.S. carriers, AT&T has one of the longest tenures in the M2M space, having enabled M2M deployments for 11 years," says John Keough, Yankee Group research associate and author of the report. "Over the past decade, AT&T has certified close to 1,000 different M2M devices and more than 200 software solutions for use on its network. And AT&T continues to expand to new areas, including container monitoring, solar panel and smart grid monitoring and remote health care, all which can benefit greatly from wireless network connectivity."
AT&T's investment in bringing in the right expertise to help customers understand and utilize M2M applications complements its long-standing leadership in the M2M space and its commitment to developing creative uses for M2M. Within its highly-organized mobility team, AT&T has talented sales forces, customer care representatives, and technology experts who all contribute to its success in delivering exciting M2M offerings to business customers.
The Yankee Group report describes AT&T's multitude of connected device subscriptions, strong partnerships, and innovation centers as strengths of its M2M strategy. AT&T is driving wireless capabilities into a wide variety of physical systems beyond traditional handsets, with the goal of enhancing its customers' business productivity. The total number of emerging devices connected to the AT&T network, including postpaid and prepaid embedded computing devices for both consumers and businesses is nearly 11 million.
